Name: Lange, Charles H.

Historical Note: Charles H. Lange was a sociocultural anthropologist in the Department of Anthropology at Southern Illinois University Carbondale.  He began his career at SIUC in 1955, and served as department chair in 1956-1957 and 1967-1970.  Lange is noted for his research on Cochiti, New Mexico and the Cochiti pueblo people.  He directed the Cochiti Dam Archaeological Salvage Project from 1962-1966, which saw several Cochiti archaeological sites excavated.  Lange also taught at the University of Texas and Northern Illinois University, and was a research associate at the Laboratory of Anthropology, Museum of New Mexico.
