Historical Note: Lester Warren Carpenter was born November 23, 1883 in Waterboro, Maine. Married to Mabelle Walker on December 25, 1905, they had two children Forrest Walker and Morris Warren. He graduated from the medical department of Bowdoin College in 1910. After his internship at Maine General Hospital, he provided general practice in Limerick, Maine from 1911-1918. He would serve in the United States Army Medical Corps in 1918 and later in the United States Medical Reserve Corps. Stationed at various hospitals, Carpenter would serve as a transport surgeon during his time in the Army. Ranking as a captain at the time of his discharge in 1921, he returned to his general and specialized (nose and throat) practice in Limerick. He died on November 5, 1973.
