Name: McMahon, Margaret Helen (1909-1960)
Historical Note: Born in 1909 in Pennsylvania, Margaret Helen McMahon was raised in Gary, Indiana, and attended Longwood Academy and the Pestalozzi-Froebel Teachers College in Chicago. During World War II she served as a lieutenant in the WAVEs. After the war she joined the State Department and served as embassy staff in Europe and Asia. She died April 15, 1960, from viral hepatitis contracted during her overseas service.
