Winpenny, E. (unknown) | Southern Illinois University Special Collections Research Center
Name: Winpenny, E. (unknown)
Historical Note: Sergeant E. Winpenny, 3rd Battalion, Royal Welch (Welsh) Fusiliers, alludes in his diary to an area of Lancashire that includes the towns of Nelson and Colne. He also writes of having a wife and children. Research suggests that he may have been Ernest Richardson Winpenny, who appeared in the 1901 UK census, aged 23, in nearby Eccleshill, and who married in North Bierley in 1907.
