Historical Note: A Presbyterian minister, William J. Fraser graduated from Jefferson College, Pennsylvania, in 1822, and served as pastor in Pennsylvania and Ohio before moving to Illinois in 1830.  Fraser became involved in an ecclesiastical controversy at Jacksonville College about 1833, and later in a personal dispute with William K. Stewart at Kaskaskia about 1837.  He later settled in Peoria County.
