Name: Cox, Winifred (1891-1990)
Historical Note: Winifred Cox was born on September 12, 1891 in Cairo, Illinois to Mary Posey McKeaig and Ellis Elijah Cox. She and her neighborhood friends formed a lifelong group they called "The Ducklings" which they were recognized by socially and publicly. She was the granddaughter of Loru Ann Posey and George Williamson McKeaig. She graduated from Cairo High School in 1909 and went on to attend college in the Midwest. In 1924 she and her friend Alice Hastings took a trip to Europe and during World War II she lived in Florida and worked with the State Welfare Board. She died in 1990.
