Name: Harwood, Judy

Historical Note: Judy Harwood was a librarian at Southern Illinois University from 1971 to 1992 and started as a cataloger in the Serials Department at Morris Library in 1969. From 1974 to 1994, Harwood also served as Coordinator of Library Instruction at Southern Illinois University and was the Director of Undergraduate and Instructional Services, from 1992 to 1994. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1960 from the University of North Dakota, a Master of Library Science degree in 1965 from the University of Illinois-Urbana, and a doctorate in Education from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale in 1981. She also extablished the SIU Nakajo campus in Japan beginning in 1984.  Harwood has authored 15 scholarly articles, edited one book, and has conducted numerous professional workshops at state and national meetings. While at SIU, Harwood also served on the United Way Board in Carbondale for eight years and was the advisor for the Delta Zeta sorority from 1984 to 1992.
