Name: Reese, John Palmer
Historical Note: John Palmer Reese, Captain Co. E, 81st Regiment, Illinois Volunteer Infantry, Cobden in Union County, enlisted at Camp Anna, August 13, 1862. He was mustered into service on August 27 as a 1st Lieutenant. Reese was imprisoned with other members of the 81st, by rebel soldiers on June 13th, 1864 and was held until September 25th, when he was exchanged as part of a deal for the release of rebel captives.
