Historical Note: Dennis W. Bowman is national lecturer on subjects such as ethics, staff inspections, and community policing and has served for over 29 years as a state law enforcement officer and commander in the Illinois State Police. His experiences range from conducting criminal investigations in areas of drug enforcement, white collar crimes, and homicides, to serving as the Commander of Community Policing. He is a nationally recognized expert in accreditation and policy development, and has consulted for the international Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies and the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Glynco, Georgia. Dr. Bowman received his Doctorate in Workforce Education and Development in 2001 from Southern Illinois University; a Master' Degree in Administration of Justice from Southern Illinois University in 1978, and a Bachelor's Degree in Secondary Education from Illinois State University in 1968. He currently teaches at Western Illinois University as an Associate Professor in the Law Enforcement and Justice Administration program.
