Name: Tilton, Clint Clay (1870-1946)

Historical Note: Clint Clay Tilton (1870-1946) was a Danville, Illinois, printer, reporter, and later newspaper owner and publisher.  After retiring from the press, Tilton served as president of the Illinois State Historical Society (1939-1940), presiding at the annual meeting held in Carbondale, May 1940.  Tilton had a lifelong interest in Abraham Lincoln and spent over forty years collecting books and other items relating to Lincoln and American history, which he donated to Southern Illinois University.
