Name: Moe, Christian Hollis, (1929-)

Historical Note: Christian Hollis Moe received an AB in History from the College of William and Mary, an MA in Dramatic Art from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a PhD from Cornell University in 1958 before joining the Southern Illinois University Carbondale Theater Department faculty that same year.  Moe was a Theater Department faculty member from 1958-1997.  During this time he developed and headed the playwriting program, served as department chair and director of graduate studies and co-executive director of the McLeod Summer Playhouse.  SIUC's laboratory theater is named in his honor.  He also cofounded The Stage Company in Carbondale, Illinois. Honors include a Fulbright fellowship to Australia, and past appointment as American College Theater National Playwriting Awards chair.
