Scope and Contents of the Materials

The Daily Egyptian Photograph Collection consists of photographs obtained in 1975 depicting student life, university services and staff, campus events and scenes, drama and dance performances, artwork, awards, campus buildings, Campus Lake, faculty, administrators, student organizations, and visiting entertainers.  The collection also includes images related to the School of Agriculture, the College of Education, the College of Liberal Arts, ROTC, the Airport, the School of Technical Careers (Vocational Technical Institute), the first class of the Medical School, scenes of Carbondale and Crab Orchard, and a photograph of Buckminster Fuller and his geodesic dome.  Most of the photographs are undated but were created in the early 1970s, some specifically dated 1971-1973.

Biographical Note

The Daily Egyptian, the student-run newspaper of SIUC, is committed to being a trusted source of information, commentary and public discourse while helping readers understand the issues affecting their lives.

The DE is published by the students of SIU Carbondale. Except during vacations and exam weeks, The Daily Egyptian print edition runs Monday through Friday during the fall and spring semesters and TWTh during the summer semester. The Pulse, a Carbondale Entertainment Guide, is no longer separate, it appears in the newspapers daily.
