Emilyn Morris was an Emeritus faculty member of Southern Illinois University Carbondale's English Department. This collection relates her book, Miss Lillian's Town: Carbondale 1823-1973, published in 1980. This book looks at the Teeter family in Carbondale and their relationship to the town and Southern Illinois Normal University over several generations.
Included in this collection are two drafts of Miss Lillian's Town, numerous newspaper articles concerning the family and their interests, photographs, albums, and programs, as well as writing samples from family members. This collection contains little correspondence, most of it from Frank Teeter. While Frank worked in Chicago, he illustrated a series of cartoon postcards for his young son Louis, who was living in Carbondale with his grandparents.
Some information used for Miss Lillian's Town came from the Teeter Family Papers, Special Collections Manuscript Collection 165.
