Scope and Contents: The Robert G. Crisenberry papers consist primarily of correspondence concerning the changing of Southern Illinois State Normal University from a teachers college to a university. There are also many letters about the Illinois Youth Commission on which Crisenberry served for many years. The material is arranged chronologically. In addition to the correspondence to and from Crisenberry there are letters of condolence to his wife upon his death in 1965, photographs (two of which contain Richard Nixon), newspaper clippings (referring mostly to Crisenberry's days as state Senator), and a scrapbook kept by his wife.
