Scope and Contents: This collection consists of four memoirs written by Clarence Vergil (Charles) Price from 1950-1952. All are recollections of Flora, Illinois, from the late 1800s until the early 1950s. Although some are personal remembrances, Price also relied on documents and personal interviews. These memoirs also include copies of photographs and newspaper cartoons contemporary with the historical period. Local individuals are highlighted, as well as general southern Illinois history. Of interest is one memoir focuses on the Chaney family, executives of the American Cranberry Exchange.
