Brief Description: A collection of 35mm negatives created by photographer Ron Gould while he was a student at Southern Illinois University Carbondale.  These photographs depict sports, concerts in SIU Arena, and the political activity on campus in the late 1960s and early 1970s including students protesting the Vietnam War.

Biographical Note for Gould, Ron :

Ron Gould was a photography student at Southern Illinois University Carbondale from 1968-1972.  After graduation he worked as an assistant for 1 year and then as a staff photographer for a catalog house in Chicago for another year.  He established Ron Gould Studios in 1974 and has been doing commercial and corporate photography in Chicago and around the world ever since.

Throughout his career, Ron Gould has photographed four Olympic Games for sponsors such as McDonald’s Corp, Brunswick Corp, NutraSweet Inc., and the National Basketball Association.  He was selected by the Chinese Government to photograph promotional images in Tibet, Mongolia, and mainland China in 2005, 2006, & 2007. His artistic work has been shown in galleries in Chicago & Los Angeles.  He was the official photographer for the inauguration of Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner in 2015.  He was also the photographer for the Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan presidential campaign in the Midwest and has worked with former Florida Governor Jeb Bush on his campaign efforts.  Other political clients include George W. Bush, Mayor Rahm Emanuel of Chicago, President Bill Clinton, and other Prime Ministers, Princes, and international heads of state.  Additional clients include several Fortune 500 companies.

Gould has taught digital photography at Harrington School of Design for over 10 years.  He is President Emeritus of the American Society of Media Photographers in the Chicago/Midwest Chapter, a member of the International Association of Panoramic Photographers, and a member of the American Society of Picture Professionals.
