Scope and Contents: This collection pertains to the career of former Southern Illinois University president Delyte Wesley Morris and includes negatives, photographs, and ephemera. Many photos show school related activities, meetings, commencements, cornerstone laying ceremonies and special events like Alumni Day, Coke Hour (a social event for meeting with new students), and the annual Christmas celebration. Photos from the first moon landing set the stage. Highlights include visits to campus from presidential candidates, John F. Kennedy and Richard M. Nixon, the basketball Salukis attending the National Invitational Tournament in Madison Square Garden, photos from the International Student Center on campus, and master plans of S.I.N.U. campus. Pictures of his sons growing up and a few family photos round out the collection. Also included is the statue of Morris sculpted by Frieda Brilliant.
