Scope and Contents: 2nd Lt. Smith (first name unknown) of Company E, 2nd Battalion, 111th Infantry, 28th Division, created a scrapbook of photographs he took during training at Fort Sheridan and Camps Custer, Greene, and Hill, as well as his service in France. Snapshots depict training activities, camp surroundings, and fellow soldiers. Smith also photographed the chateaux and villas where officers billeted in France, and documented a trip on leave to Nice and the Mediterranean coast. The scrapbook ends with photos of a victory parade in Philadelphia, May 15, 1919.
