Scope and Contents: The photographs and postcards are grouped by subject in 16 folders, and include images from the Russian civil war, scenes and portraits from Siberian life, Japanese children's drawings, and early color postcards from Japan and Cuba. A folder of documents includes an autograph letter from Planert in Siberia to his parents in Chicago, dated September 26, 1919, and transcriptions of letters dated January 17, 26, and May 12, 1919, all from Siberia. A sewing kit and several canvas and leather articles are included, along with a souvenir book of photographs from the 1901 Pan-American Exposition in Buffalo, New York.
