Scope and Contents: This collection consists of postcards originally in the collections of Trovillion, Rickert, and Teeter, as well as many postcards addressed to Sherman Minor. Many of the postcards are blank, but marked by an archivist with the original collection name. Those that are pieces of correspondence are very casual in their subject matter and content. Many are sent from European vacations, or while visiting other parts of the United States, but are sent back to Carbondale or a nearby town. There is also a significant portion of the collection originating in Illinois, and specifically in Marion, Carbondale, Murphysoro, Anna, Waterloo, Cairo, Shawneetown, McLeansboro, Springfield, Carmi, Carthage, Harrisburg, Makanda, Franklin County and Cobden. Southern Illinois University at Carbondale also is included with picture postcards of Anthony Hall, Old Main, the Gymnasium, Shryock, Wheeler Library, Morris Library and the Allyn Building.
