Scope and Contents: The collection includes approximately 125 postcards from Karl Luert , all written in German, dating from September 1914 -- September 1918, with one card from December 1910. Each postcard has a picture on the front, and most of the pictures are in color. Many of the postcards are from Poland and have front pictures of destruction caused by the German army. Others depict scenes of a soldier and his wife or a wife waiting at home for her soldier as well as combat scenes. A majority of the cards also have a poem included with the picture. In the collection, there are also cards to Otto Hermann, along with cards from his wife, Auguste Luert's cousin.
