Scope and Contents: The Allan B. Sniffen collection contains correspondence to his parents from September 1917 through December 1918, an assortment of military documents, and his identification tag. Most of the letters were written from forts in the eastern United States describing Sniffen's field clerk training, but approximately 20 letters are present from his time in Artillery School at Saumur, France. The collection also includes postcards from Sgt. Major Sniffen's military travels, giving a visual image of the towns and forts he visited. Some are even marked to indicate where in the fort he worked and resided.
