This collection consists of photocopied materials held by the Cairo Public Library including: Cairo City Property Trust Records of minutes of meetings held in Philadelphia, PA dating from 1850 to 1864; Jonathan Boon family letters (the bulk of which are from Boon to his wife during the Civil War); Effie Lansden letters dating from 1921 to 1952; Edna Ferber Papers, which contains correspondence with Effie Lansden; Ship Passage signed by the Presidents Thomas Jefferson dated 1804; Ship Passage signed by President James Monroe and James Monroe; City Engineer reports dated July, 1913; Cairo City Clerk estimated and actually costs of a retaining wall dated 1893; City Council minutes of meetings dated 1892 to 1893; various correspondence with Illinois Central Railroad dating from 1853 to 1930; May Halliday of Cairo correspondence dated 1925 to 1954; Diary of Dr. John Wright McKinney dated 1862, a surgeon for the 63rd Illinois Infantry; exhibits items at Cairo Public Library; and court documents from Cairo Property Trust v. Clifford (1893 to 1894). The above contents are filed separately in individual folders and contained in Box 1 of the collection, except for Cairo Property Trust v. Clifford (1892-3) which is the entire contents of Box 2 of this collection.
