Brief Description: Letter dated May 7, 1864, from William S. Dunn, Co. K, 2nd Tennessee Mounted Infantry, to Martha Wilson Dunn, from Waverly, Tennessee.  Dunn writes that he is well and asks his wife to write to him and send her picture; he appends a note to his friend, J. D. Helm.  ALS, 3 pp.

Biographical Note for Dunn, William S. (born 1831) : William Sherman Dunn was born in 1831 in Hardin County, Tennessee.  In December 1860, he married Martha Wilson (born 1835 in Kentucky), at Vienna, Johnson County, Illinois.  Dunn served in Company K, 2nd Tennessee Mounted Infantry, and died at Nashville.  His widow Martha is listed in the 1870 census for Johnson County with her daughter Anna, aged 8.
