Scope and Contents: The Center for Soviet and East European Studies in the Performing Arts opened in 1969 with Unity Theater actor and director Herbert Marshall as Director. This collection documents the Center's beginnings, day-to-day operations, student and faculty staff, and accomplishments, including productions, grants, and press coverage. The Center's director, Herbert Marshall, included his own writing and research, which focuses primarily on Sergei Eisenstein, correspondence, and budget and expansion proposals. Also included are film strips and color slides depicting Soviet art from the early 12th century until the late 20th century.
