Scope and Contents: The Carbondale Peace Center records consist of organizational records, subject files and printed materials. Organizational records include correspondence and notes of CPC members, CPC project files, and CPC press releases and mailings. Subject files include clippings, newsletters, brochures, correspondence and notes on topics of social concern and various peace groups that were prominent during the period of CPC's existence. Printed materials include newsletters and other periodical literature produced by other peace groups and collected by CPC, as well as pamphlets and books on topics of interest to CPC. The organizational records date from 1973 to 1976, the period of CPC's existence. The bulk of the collected printed materials date from 1965-1977 with some material going back as far as 1949. The only artifacts are mock Vietnamese political prisoner bracelets CPC purchased from Clergy and Laity Concerned. The only photograph is of a poster CPC produced to sell at a Fellowship of Reconciliation conference.
